The Mississippi Airports Association (MAA) honored long time board member Nick Ardillo this past week by naming him the first ever Director Emeritus. The award was given at the Golden Triangle Regional Airport’s (GTR) board meeting. Ardillo served as the airport’s Executive Director from 1999 to 2006.
Ardillo’s career was one of distinction, serving as Wing Commander at Columbus Air Force Base, followed by his tenure from 1993 to 1999 as Deputy Chief of Staff and Pilot for the Governor Kirk Fordice administration prior to joining GTR.
“The Mississippi Airports Association is proud to recognize Nick Ardillo as Director Emeritus in honor of his outstanding leadership, dedication and lifelong contributions to aviation in Mississippi,” said Wes Kirkpatrick, MAA President. “His vision and unwavering commitment have played a pivotal role in advancing our state’s airports and strengthening the aviation community. We are grateful for his service and look forward to his continued impact on the industry.”
“One of the highlights of my life was being the director of GTR Airport,” stated Ardillo. “I have so many good memories of my time here and my involvement with the Mississippi Airports Association. This designation really means a lot to me. Thank you.”
Congratulations, Nick!
