MAA’s Capitol Day, held February 1, was well attended by many of our members. It was an excellent chance for airport directors to make appointments with their representatives in the Mississippi Senate and House to share their airports’ needs as well as the overarching picture of aviation in the state.

Our group was recognized on the floor of the Senate by the Chairwoman of the Transportation Committee, Sen. Jennifer Branning. We also had a display table in the Capitol Rotunda, which allowed us to visit with many of the lawmakers as they were coming and going from the building.

With several legislative issues pending before our Legislature that can have significant impacts on airport funding, this was time well spent, and we look forward to this event growing each year.
