MDOT REPORT

By Josh Stubbs, Director
MDOT Aeronautics

Another round of the Multi-Modal Transportation Improvement Program has concluded, and I am happy to announce that we were able to fund 14 projects worth $3.8 million. As usual, there were more quality projects than there was funding, which means some good projects did not make the cut. Keep your eyes and ears open though; there will be another round of Strategic and “old” Multi-Modal before you know it. In the interim, the FAA state matching grants are on their way, too. If you have not received yours yet, it should be coming in the near future.

It’s conference season as well. In addition to the recent Mississippi Airports Association Conference in Tupelo, the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) met in Pittsburgh in early September. Similar to the MAA Conference, the NASAO Convention is an excellent opportunity to meet with folks in the aviation industry. It’s filled with aviation experts from across the country, both at the state and federal government levels, as well as the private sector. Both were productive conferences, and I enjoyed seeing everyone!
