The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) Hawkins Field team energized the holiday spirit at Canopy Children’s Solutions with a heartwarming holiday event in concert with our partners at Entergy. The celebration, held December 19, aimed to bring joy and cheer to Canopy children and families served in Jackson.
Canopy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to children’s education and family support solutions, was founded in 1912. The event, which included a pizza lunch with a special visit from Santa Claus and the fulfillment of holiday wish lists, brought smiles to the faces of the children in need.
Charles Lacey, Ed.S., principal of Canopy’s CARES School, expressed the significance of such an event during the holiday season, especially for the children they serve who are facing various challenges.
He emphasizes the importance of providing moments of compassion, joy and normality, stating, “These types of partnerships, like this one with Hawkins Field, are invaluable and help build the entire child and ensure they have what they need going into the holidays. We are very deeply grateful for this partnership opportunity. We hope to do this for years and years to come.”
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Canopy Children’s Solutions and Entergy to create a memorable holiday experience for the children and families they serve,” says JMAA CEO Rosa Beckett. “The holiday season is a time for giving, and we are committed to spreading the warmth and joy of this season to those who may need it most.”
The collaboration between JMAA’s Hawkins Field Airport and Canopy Children’s Solutions and the support from sponsors like Entergy exemplify the power of community partnerships in extending hope during the holiday season. This uplifting event reflects JMAA’s pledge to support and enrich the lives of the community, fostering a spirit of giving and goodwill.
