A Conference Success!

“These are some of the best speakers we’ve ever had.”

It was a comment heard often during our annual conference in Bay St. Louis this past April.  The speakers included Pearlis Johnson, FAA Southern Region Deputy Administrator; Spencer Dickerson and Jeffrey Mulder from AAAE; Greg Jones with Foreign Trade Zone Corporation; Transportation Commissioners Mike Tagert and Tom King; Walter Chartrand of Aviation Training Academy and Bill Hutto of Auburn University.  There were also discussion panels addressing P-601 Asphalt and new applications for drones.  Other topics included contract tower funding, pilot shortage and fueling facilities.  Rounding out the agenda were reports from Tommy Booth at MDOT, David Wynn at TSA, Rans Black at FAA ADO and Jeff Wagner of Baker Donelson, who gave a legislative update.

We were all captivated by the stories Ron Abboud of the World War II Museum in New Orleans shared during the lunch hour.  Another highlight included the good food and fantastic airshow put on at Stennis International Airport on Thursday night.  The Stennis staff were excellent hosts!  They also hosted the three gun shooting competition at Tyonek’s range.

Tom Williams of Meridian Airport Authority was recognized as MAA Professional of the Year for his service to our industry.  Congratulations to Tom on this well-earned honor.
